The Jessup Moot in Washington DC, founded in 1960, is one of the 6 Grand Slam moots that SMU participates in regularly. With almost 700 teams participating annually, it is the world's oldest, largest, and most prestigious moot competition. Topics include international human rights, international environmental law, and international criminal law. In 2013 SMU became the youngest ever law school to reach the international championship final and the first Singapore team to do so in 10 years. In 2014 it became the youngest ever law school to reach consecutive international championship finals. SMU reached its third championship final in 2022.

Allen Chong, Chang Wen Yee, Brian Wong, Robbie Tan, and Joel Soon represented SMU in the global rounds for Jessup’22. The team won all 12 matches en route to the championship final, seeding first with most round points, wins, and raw score. The team won six oralist awards: 2nd, 11th, and 24th for Top 30 Oralists in Prelims, and 6th, 21st, and 21st for Top 30 Oralists in Advanced Rounds. The team also won 1st prize for Best Respondent Worldwide (Baxter), 2nd prize for Best Combined Memorials at Global Rounds (Evans), and 4th prize for Best Combined Memorials of Qualifying Rounds (Dillard).
