Philip C. Jessup Moot

The Jessup Moot in Washington DC, founded in 1960, is one of the 7 Grand Slam moots that SMU participates in regularly. With almost 700 teams participating annually, it is the world's oldest, largest, and most prestigious moot competition. Topics include international human rights, international environmental law, and international criminal law. In 2013 SMU became the youngest ever law school to reach the international championship final and the first Singapore team to do so in 10 years. In 2014 it became the youngest ever law school to reach consecutive international championship finals. SMU reached its third championship final in 2022 and fourth in 2025, winning the latter.
