The championship final of the 2nd edition of the MLAS Moot was held in the SMU David Marshall Moot Court for the first time. Representing the claimant was Hanspreet Singh Sachdev (Cambridge/Drew & Napier) and representing the respondent was Chow Zi En (SMU'17/Rajah & Tann). The judges for the final were Judge of Appeal Steven Chong, Kenneth Tan SC, and Gavin Kealey QC. Zi En was eventually declared the winner, making this the second time that an SMU alum has won this competition. This year's moot problem was about interim relief by emergency arbitrators, and the competition saw just under 50 registrants, with more than 50 lawyers from firms such as Allen & Glehill and Rajah & Tann judging the preliminary and knockout rounds. For her efforts, Zi En will have an opportunity to complete a fully sponsored internship with 7KBW London, a leading commercial set. She will also take home with her $1500.
