SMNC, a student-led club for mediators and negotiators, was established in 2019 by a team of SMU students passionate about fostering a strong ADR culture within SMU.

SMNC frequently organises webinars and seminars inviting mediation professionals to share their experiences with students and engage them in meaningful discussions. SMNC also hosts the university's only mediation competition. The club's other initiatives include the SMU Pro Bono Mediation Clinic, which is the first campus mediation clinic in Singapore.

Lexicon, SMU's student legal publication club, was established in 2017 by a team of SMU students passionate about keeping up with and commenting on developments in the law.

Lexicon edits and collates articles for the Singapore Law Journal – SMU Law’s inaugural legal publication, and publishes other pieces on its student-run blog. The club’s other initiatives include collaborations with the Supreme Court, under which students pen case summaries and articles, as well as a writing competition aimed at lower-year students.

Through its various initiatives, Lexicon hopes to encourage students to hone their legal writing and research skills.

The FDI Moot, established in 2008, is one of the two leading moots in this field.

Through hosting foreign law students and professors and organizing events for law exchange students every semester, the SMU Law International Relations Club aims to forge and strengthen ties between SMU Law students and the larger international law student community.

Having undergone rebranding with a more recreational objective, our club works towards the collective goal of improving the welfare of law students and making campus life vibrant. Specifically, we organise sporting events to upkeep a healthy balance between work and recreation in law school. Our events often provide networking opportunities between students in the various law schools and legal professionals as well. This is made possible by the key event of Law Fraternity Games which occur annually. We also have new initiatives such as MaRUNa, HaveFunLaw and Starry Ride which are very well-received by students.

Inaugurated in 2013, the SMU Law Outreach Club ("SLOC") seeks to encourage volunteerism and a heart to serve the underprivileged. SLOC actively reaches out to various socio-legal stakeholders to source for meaningful projects which enable law students to apply their legal skills and knowledge while serving the community. As part of our vision of developing a student-driven community service culture, SLOC members are given opportunities to both lead and initiate projects. This empowers law students to become socially responsible and proactive citizens, capable of demonstrating compassion, leadership and integrity in meeting the needs of the wider community.

CCJC is a club focused on anything related to criminal and constitutional law. The club is divided into sub-teams, each specialising in a certain area:

JC Dialogue Sessions: Members of our club work with Junior Colleges and pre-university institutions where we deliver mini-seminars on introductory Constitutional/Criminal law topics.

Talks: We bring in distinguished speakers and host talks/dialogue sessions for all students. Later this month, we are hosting a very interesting talk with Deputy AG Hri Kumar on what considerations take place behind the scenes when the prosecution decides to prosecute or not. We are also exploring talks hosted by practitioners and judges in the future.

Mitigation Plea Project: We also have a project where we help criminal defendants without legal representation write mitigation pleas to the court, in hopes of reducing their sentences.

Criminal Law Publications: This team is in charge of all publications relating to criminal law. Currently, they are working on the CrimLaw Digests collaborative initiative with the Criminal Practice Committee. Here, we help summarise the recent criminal law cases which practitioners will be interested in. These digests are published onto LawNet.

Constitutional/Admin Law Publications: This team is in charge of all publications relating to constitutional and administrative law. Right now, the team is working on an Administrative law guidebook for layman to better understand the recourse they have to review executive decisions. We intend to publish this book with NLB and possibly host exhibitions to promote them.

The SMU Corporate & Commercial Law Club is a student-led law club that aims to promote the corporate and commercial aspects of legal practice among students. We organise competitions and events like sharing sessions on training contract and internship applications, as well as create bite-sized information (contract explanatory notes, infographics, practice area write-ups etc) for the student population.

The Club's annual flagship events include the Restructuring Negotiation Competition (Organised by SMU and Supported by BlackOak LLC) and the WongPartnership Transaction Competition. Our competitions aim to give students a chance to hone their negotiation skills, and facilitate inter-university interactions by extending invitations to NUS law students to participate in our competitions.

The Bar, officially known as the SMU Law Society, is SMU Yong Pung How School of Law’s (“YPHSL”) undergraduate Law Society, dedicated to serving the student population in the School of Law. Founded in 2007, The Bar is a student-based body headed by its Management Committee, comprising the President, Vice President and Directors for each of the six (6) committees, namely - Public Relations, Events, Marketing, Finance, Professional Academic and General Secretary.

By working closely with the administration and other law clubs, the Bar endeavours to provide for law students holistically, by advancing students’ professional and academic interests while also seeking to forge a stronger sense of community among students in Law School through the organization of events and activities. These initiatives include the Mentorship Programme, Freshmen Kickstarter Sessions, Dialogue Sessions with law firms, and Welfare Drives.

The Bar also oversees the planning of YPHSL’s signature summer events which include Law Graduation Night, Law Camp (Freshman Orientation), and Law Bash (Freshman Pageant).
