Cybersecurity laws are laws which are aimed at protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of computer systems and their data therein. This area of law has been one of the fastest growing areas of law in recent years, particularly in the US and EU. In the Asia-Pacific, many countries have passed cybersecurity laws and are planning for more. The growth in the number of cybersecurity laws, their particularity, teeth, and enforcement are driven by how dependent our societies have become on computers and the internet and the increasing cost of cyberattacks to societies.
