This panel dialogue is co-organised by the Singapore Management University (SMU) Environment and Sustainability Law Club (ESLC), the Singapore Sustainable Futures Initiative (SSFI), and the SMU Law Academy (SMULA).
SPEAKERS
Elizabeth Wu
Elizabeth Wu is a transnational governance consultant and international dispute resolution lawyer focusing on how international economic law can drive environmental and climate justice. With over 13 years of experience in transnational corporate accountability, climate and environmental governance, and complex cross-border dispute resolution, she advises the public and private sectors and civil society on initiatives across Asia. She is an International Consultant with the UNDP Global Policy Network; Lead Advisor, Environmental Justice and Transnational Governance, for Climate Governance Malaysia; Global Fellow with the NUS Centre for International Law; and Singapore Rapporteur for the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law.
Jonathan Guwe
Jonathan Guwe is a senior partner in the Dentons Rodyk Banking and Finance group. He handles a wide range of finance and commercial work, particularly in the areas of energy and infrastructure, mergers and acquisitions, project finance and banking. His experience in finance work encompasses a wide range of transactions including acquisition financing, project financing, bilateral and syndicated lending, asset-backed financing and trade financing, as well as pre-export financing. In energy, he has handled various energy transactions in emerging markets, successfully seen multiple projects from inception to commercial operation, and is well versed to manage the unique challenges in such markets. He has experience in negotiating and drafting various documents such as engineering, procurement and construction contracts, fuel supply, operations and maintenance contracts, power purchase agreements, and build, operate and transfer contracts amongst others.
Dr. Joseph Chun
Dr. Joseph Chun is an environmental lawyer, and leads the ESG practice at Shook Lin & Bok. With a strong commitment to sustainability, he is a member of the Asia-Pacific Centre for Environmental Law, and serves in multiple ESG and conservation bodies. Dr. Chun also teaches environmental law as an adjunct associate professor at the National University of Singapore. His work bridges law, policy, and responsible investment to drive sustainable development, corporate accountability, and environmental stewardship.
Reshma Nair
Reshma Nair is a Senior Associate at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer LLP with over a decade of experience specialising in disputes arising out of investments in energy assets and arising out of the energy transition, both in commercial and treaty arbitration. Her clients include States, State-owned entities and MNCs, across solar, wind, hydro, nuclear and oil and gas decommissioning projects.
Tiong Teck Wee
Tiong Teck Wee is a Partner in the Commercial & Corporate Disputes Practice and International Arbitration Practice, and is also the Co-Head of the Sustainability & Responsible Business Practice at WongPartnership LLP.
His main areas of practice are in complex, high-value, cross-border, multi-jurisdictional commercial and corporate disputes, representing global MNCs, State-owned entities, public and private corporations, and high net-worth individuals from various jurisdictions both before the Singapore Courts and in international arbitrations.
In his capacity as the Co-Head of the Sustainability & Responsible Business Practice, Teck Wee advises clients on a range of ESG and sustainability-related matters such as greenwashing, ESG related disputes and climate-related litigation, directors’ duties and liabilities in the ESG space, and carbon credits and carbon trading. Teck Wee also regularly contributes to publications (such as Mondaq, ICLG, IFLR, the Singapore Institute of Directors bulletin) and speaks at seminars and conferences on ESG and sustainability-related issues. Teck Wee was recently named as one of ALB’s Rising Stars Singapore 2024, and is also recognised in the Legal 500 as one of the Firm’s key lawyers in dispute resolution.
Randall Perera
Randall Perera is the Legal Vice President in the Corporate Services Group at GenZero.
Before GenZero, he was a Director with the corporate and financial services regulatory practice at CHP Law LLC. Prior to that, he was at Colin Ng & Partners LLP advising on private equity acquisitions, ventures, and other corporate commercial matters.
Randall graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Laws and is admitted to the Singapore Bar.
Ng Jun Xiang
Ng Jun Xiang is a first-year LLB undergraduate at Singapore Management University (SMU) Yong Pung How School of Law. His academic interests centre on the intersection of law, sustainable development and economic regulation, in particular how legal frameworks can support sustainable finance and market stability. He is also involved in the SMU Environmental & Sustainability Law Club as an Events Associate, where he supports initiatives that promotes engagement with environmental and governance issues. As moderator for this year’s Green Week panel, he looks forward to facilitating a thoughtful and robust discussion on the challenges shaping Singapore’s evolving energy strategy.
