Synopsis

This is a collection of highlights of key judgments delivered in 2016 impacting civil procedure in Singapore.

This 1.5 hour seminar cum workshop is a particularly helpful and effective way to aid busy practitioners to keep abreast with some of the more critical and interesting judgments relevant to civil litigation.  The judgments included in this seminar are carefully selected by the instructor to provide a comprehensive, holistic and chronological view of the recent decisions of the Court of Appeal and High Court. These judgments cover a broad range of areas including:

  • Mode of Commencement
  • Bifurcation of a Cause of Action
  • Forum Non Conveniens
  • Limitation Period
  • Striking Out
  • Amendment of Pleadings
  • Determination on a Point of Law
  • Security for Cost
  • Setting Aside of Search Orders
  • Specific Discovery
  • Offer to Settle
  • Leave to Appeal
  • Appeals to the CA against Costs Orders
  • Cost Orders against Non-Party
  • Costs for Pro Bono Cases

In addition, to add special value to participants of this seminar, observations on emerging discernible trends in Civil Procedure will be discussed.

Who Should Attend

This seminar cum workshop is recommended for litigators, legal counsel and legal service officers who wish to be apprised of the latest developments in Civil Procedure in 2016.  It is also an excellent opportunity to interact on current civil litigation issues in a non-adversarial setting – a university campus in the heart of the city green lung.
