Crypto-currencies – To Regulate or Not to Regulate?

Jonathan Price

Non-Executive Chairman

BmyBit Ltd

SYNOPSIS

The presentation will consider the steps that have been taken to regulate crypto-currencies in various jurisdictions, categorise them according to the degree of receptiveness to digital currencies, and attempt to lay down certain recommendations for financial and monetary authorities responsible for maintaining order in financial markets. The presentation will cover both the currencies themselves and the activities of those whose seek to issue and use them.

Some countries have already acted to ban crypto-currencies, while others have been more receptive. A third category, including both the United Kingdom and Singapore, have yet to decide on which side of the fence to come down.

Participants at the presentation will gain a better understanding of the issues, and of the actions taken by governments and agencies around the world, and be in a position to form their own views on this important issue.
