Synopsis
The Chinese audio-visual market has been expanding at a breakneck pace and the China’s growing audio-visual industry is transforming into sophisticated national players and even content exporters in the global market. As an IP-intensive industry, the growth of the audio-visual industry is increasingly dependent on effective protection of IP rights. However, the Chinese intellectual property law has thus far failed to effectively promote content production and distribution and slowed down the audio-visual industry’s progress in forming a complete industrial chain. In this lecture, Ms. Yanbing Li will first report on the status quo of the Chinese audio-visual industry. Then, she will highlight several key issues that are currently debated in China and discuss high-profile cases under the Chinese intellectual property law and beyond. Besides, Ms. Li will compare the pertinent regulations and practices in Germany and the United States. Finally, she will conclude the lecture by putting forward some possible solutions and practical guidelines, which may better serve the growth of the audio-visual industry both in the domestic and international markets.
Professor Calboli will introduce the speaker and act as a moderator for the debate questions following the lecture.
