Companies these days are becoming customer-centric to bring better solutions. Through design thinking, companies can attain a deeper understanding of customers’ needs and desires, while finding an innovative solution. As law firms seek to add value to client services, design thinking holds key to new innovations and greater customer satisfaction.
This module helps participants create a process in building common understanding and collaboration for teams. Participants will learn Legal Design and Design Thinking’s human-centric paradigm and structured approach, in the aim to create a measurable and effective solution.
This module is part of the Professional Certificate in Legal Practice of the Future. It is also available on a standalone basis.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the 1-day module, participants will be able to:
- Understand how to use legal design and design thinking to develop a process for building common understanding and collaboration for teams seeking to innovate value delivery to clients
- Explore legal design and design thinking as a competitive advantage for the modern law firm and acquire practical experience with design thinking

- Associates with at least 1-2 years of experience
- Paralegals and Operations Managers in the legal services industry
PREREQUISITE
Participants should have at least 1-2 years experience in a legal services firm
ASSESSMENT
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of every module. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

Marc, Co-Founder & Director at Regall Private Limited & UserTip Private Limited, leads LegalTech and digital adoption projects. He spearheads legal design services at Regall, pioneering in Singapore. At UserTip, Marc drives technology for seamless digital adoption without coding. With expertise in Agile development and solution implementation, he guides digital transformation, identifying disruptive opportunities. Marc represented Singapore in the 2018 Global Legal Hackathon finals and teaches Legal Design at SMU School of Law. He's affiliated with the global Legal Design Alliance, connecting professionals and researchers.
