Synopsis

This seminar will address six aspects of remedies imposed in the law of trusts. It will provide an update concerning the development of the law, with particular emphasis being placed upon cases decided in the English courts over the last two years. It will also reflect on the relevance of these updates on the present and future development of Singapore law.

 

 

About the Speaker

Dr Ying Khai Liew is a lecturer at the Faculty of Laws, University College London (UCL), having previously held a lectureship at King’s College London. His research interests lie in private law, particularly in the fields of trusts and obligations. He has published in leading international journals, including the Law Quarterly Review, Cambridge Law Journal, Modern Law Review, Conveyancer and Property Lawyer, and Journal of Equity. He is the co-author (with Professor AG Guest) of The Law of Assignment (2nd edn, Sweet & Maxwell 2015), and will be publishing his monograph, Rationalising Constructive Trusts (Hart Publishing) in 2017.

 

 

Fees

a. Seminar fee 

Seminar fee of S$200* (inclusive of GST) applies.

b. Group discount fee
Group discount fee of S$180(inclusive of GST) applies if there are at least 10 participants from the same organisation. 

c. SMU Alumni fee (for LLB / JD / LLM graduates)
Seminar fee of S$180* (inclusive of GST) applies for SMU LLB / JD / LLM Alumni.

d. Student rate
Seminar fee of S$50* (inclusive of GST) applies for:

- Full-time undergraduate student (matriculation card must be provided in order to enjoy this entitlement).

Student undertaking Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations (for the period from July to Dec 2016. Proof of  enrollment with SILE in the form of email confirmation must be provided)

 

*Please note that there will be no refund should participant cancel the registration/did not attend the seminar. However transferring of registration/sending replacement can be arranged and notice of transfer/substitution should be sent to Sascha via email: cle@smu.edu.sg, latest by 30 August.

SMU School of Law reserves the right to cancel or postpone any events owing to unforeseen circumstances. Refund of seminar fees will be arranged.
