Vincent Ooi is Head, Singapore Tax Academy Research Initiative (STARI). His research focuses on tax law, with particular interests in attribution by beneficial ownership, crypto tax risks and international taxation. Vincent has worked with the United Nations, World Bank and International Law Association. He was previously Deputy Head of Tax at a Singapore law firm. Vincent has published extensively, including in the Law Quarterly Review, Legal Studies and British Tax Review. His research has been cited by all levels of the Singapore Supreme Court, leading law texts, and bodies within the United Nations and European Commission. Vincent is an award-winning researcher and educator, having received the ATTA Prize, Lee Kong Chian Fellowship and several teaching awards. He has taught at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge and conducted training for several divisions of the IRAS. Vincent teaches Tax Law, Equity & Trusts and Private Wealth Law, having authored leading texts in these areas. He read Jurisprudence as an undergraduate at Trinity College, Oxford (double-first) and completed his PhD in Tax Law at Downing College, Cambridge as an MOE-SMU START Scholar.
