In the past months, the courts have clarified the application of the Workplace Injury Compensation Act 2009 when there is a settlement, and the interpretation of Rule 9(a) of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972. Explanations have also been provided on the effect of amended pleadings on warrants of arrests, and who can be defendants in limitation actions, amongst others. However, what has dominated conversations are the summary judgment applications where goods were discharged without Bills of Lading – they could potentially result in significant changes to the law as they proceed to trial. This webinar seeks to provide a concise summary of the developments in shipping and international trade law, distilling the essential principles espoused.
