Message from Alumni Relations Director (July 2015)

We bring you our second issue of the School of Law Alumni E-newsletter at a time when the School of Law is about to hold its fifth commencement ceremony. We’ll provide photos of this in our next newsletter.

In addition to alumni groups for LL.B.s, J.D.s and those who have participated in international moots, we’ve recently added another alumni group for our LL.M. graduates.

Congratulations to most of you from the Class of 2014 who have just completed or are about to complete your training contract. Join your classmates in our celebration with you at the mass call party at the University Lounge on 22 August. Having heard from many of you along the way about various aspects of your hectic journey, I hope that you will take some time during your call break to reflect on your goals and calling in life.

On a more personal note, last week, I was inspired by the story of Sir Nicholas Winton, who rescued 669 Czech children from the Nazis. The story of what transpired when a 29-year-old stockbroker who was living comfortably gave up a two-week ski vacation to visit his friend in Prague and help out in refugee camps was in the media again as Sir Winton passed away. It is a good reminder, while many of you are still young, of the difference one person can make.

Please keep in touch!
