The Law Capstone is designed to prepare our students for the future of legal practice which we expect to increase in complexity. First, unlike foundational law courses (for example, Contract and Property) that focus on a narrower range of topics, the Law Capstone adds the polishing touch, helping students look across traditional disciplinary boundaries by working on projects that span multiple areas of the law. Second, every Law Capstone course will also be an SMU-X course so that the entire cohort of students will be exposed to a healthy degree of experiential learning. SMU-X courses will be taught in even smaller classes (typically 30 and below) with the help of industry mentors.
