Internships

For purposes of qualifying for graduation, LL.B. and J.D. students are required to undertake a 10-week and 6-week compulsory internship respectively with:

• Law Firms; and/or
• Legal Department of Government-linked Corporations/Companies/Multi-national Corporations etc

An internship will acquaint the students with the practical workings of the legal system and the realities of law practice in the private and public sectors.

Students will be allowed to intern with a maximum of 5 partners to satisfy the 10-week legal internship requirement. However students are encouraged to consider internships with firms/organizations that allow a period of 4 weeks as it allows continuity and an opportunity to understand the workings of the firm and practice.

Students would be graded during their internship. Where a student scores below average in his/her "Overall Grading", that internship placement will not be reckoned towards calculation of the required 10-week period.

Subject to the belowmentioned categories*, only internships undertaken after completion of the second year LL.B. programme will be counted towards the 10-week graduation requirement.

* Double degree students, LL.B.-Acc and LL.B.-ISM, can undertake internships that reckoned towards graduation requirement after completion of Year 2, Term 1 LL.B. Programme.

* J.D. students can undertake internships that reckoned towards graduation requirement after completion of Year 1 J.D. Programme.

The law school has partnered with the belowmentioned law firms and organizations for internship and is currently in the progress of negotiating with other firms.
